Bottom-line: The hatchet is made out of stainless steel...therefore, you will easily have dents in the blade. The hatchet does not really work well as a hammer. If you are planning on buying this hatchet for a bug-out bag, bushcrafting, etc., I would focus on purchasing a hatchet made out of 1095 - 1050 steel. This hatchet is more of an item that looks pretty rather than practical. On the good side, the hatchet is sharp out of the box.
